John Millen, Master Drummaker |
![]() | Educated at Peabody Conservatory, John started off as a music teacher. He soon succumbed to wanderlust, built his own sailboat, and sailed off to the Carribean. During the years of sailing, he came to understand how important creating harmony was for him in the building of things. After his return, his talents led him to building houses, including the geodesic dome in which he lives, and the creation of fine custom cabinetry and unique wooden bathtubs. Along with all that building, he is in his twentyfourth year of singing with the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, which he deeply loves. Many years ago he built his first drum out of a plank of cyprus from an aging vat at a nearby distillery. Today, John enjoys his place among the top drummakers in the country, supplying the discriminating amateur and professional alike with the finest in hand-crafted drums. |
